CME: Biosimilars: how similar are they?

Activity Description / Statement of Need:

The presentation will provide an overview of biosimilar development and the FDA approval process. Differences between biologics and small molecule drugs will be outlined. Challenges facing biosimilar integration into the practice will also be described. Particular attention will be given to considerations for Pharmacy and Therapeutics committees in hospitals to discuss with regards to including biosimilars on formulary. Finally, proactive actions the pharmacist can take to lead the initiative of biosimilar review will be discussed.
