CME: Critical Care Pharmacotherapy Literature Update - (September 2011)

 


Program Description / Statement of Need:

In this online CME self-learning program:

This is a monthly review of select articles in the medical literature pertaining to pharmacotherapy used in
critically ill patient populations. The content below is for information purposes only and is intended to
highlight recent articles that may be of interest to those caring for patients in various intensive care or
related settings. Though some core content from the publications is presented, the reader is encouraged
to review each article in full for additional detail in order to fully interpret the study, its findings, and its
applicability to practice.


 

Target Audience:

This program has been designed for a multidisciplinary physician, nurse, and pharmacist audience including: ICU / Anesthesia / Peri-op / Intensivists / Trauma / Critical Care



Program Objectives:

By the end of the session the participant will be able to:

    • Be able to describe the study: RENAL INSUFFICIENCY AFTER CONTRAST MEDIA ADMINISTRATION TRIAL II (REMEDIAL II): RENALGUARD SYSTEM IN HIGH-RISK PATIENTS FOR CONTRAST-INDUCED ACUTE KIDNEY INJURY
    • Be able to describe the study: ACETYLCYSTEINE FOR PREVENTION OF RENAL OUTCOMES IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING CORONARY AND PERIPHERAL VASCULAR ANGIOGRAPHY (ACT)
    • Be able to describe the study: RANDOMIZED, PLACEBO-CONTROLLED CLINICAL TRIAL OF AN AEROSOLIZED Β2-AGONIST FOR TREATMENT OF ACUTE LUNG INJURY
    • Be able to describe the study: TREATMENT OF HYPER-TRIGLYCERIDEMIA IN PATIENTS RECEIVING PARENTERAL NUTRITION
    • Be able to describe the study: EFFECT OF ANTIBIOTIC DIVERSITY ON VENTILATOR-ASSOCIATED PNEUMONIA CAUSED BY ESKAPE ORGANISMS
